Description
Some basic indications for the care of Monstera deliciosa:
- Light: It prefers bright indirect light, although it can adapt to lower light levels.
Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn its leaves. - Watering: Water when the soil is dry to the touch at the top.
Monsteras do not like to be waterlogged, so make sure the pot drains well. - Humidity: Loves high humidity, so may benefit from occasional misting or a humidifier, especially in dry climates or during the winter.
- Temperature: Keep the plant at a room temperature between 18-27°C (65-80°F).
Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C (50°F). - Fertilization: During the growing season (spring and summer), fertilize monthly with a houseplant fertilizer diluted to half the recommended strength.
- Pruning: Prune yellow or damaged leaves to keep the plant looking tidy and to stimulate new growth.
- Support: Provides a support for the plant to climb, since in nature they usually climb trees.
- Transplanting: Transplant when the roots start to come out of the drainage holes, usually every two years.
By following these guidelines, your Monstera should continue to grow and stay healthy.
